A Vegetarian Thanksgiving Recipe

It all starts with the candied Pecans!

All it takes is a few candied pecans to make everyone go nuts!

Below is our favorite holiday snack.  We take with us on long drives,  have with a tea while we watch the winter sunset, enjoy as a dessert after a meal.  These are just great for holiday snackin'!

CANDIED PECANS

Makes 2 cups
Prep Time: 5 min (plus dehydration/heating time, this time frame may vary.)

2c Pecans (soaked 2 hrs.)
1/4c Maple syrup
2tbsp Maple sugar
1/4tsp Cinnamon
1/8tsp Himalayan salt (fine ground)

1. Drain soaked pecans and discard water. Place nuts into a medium size mixing bowl. Stir in all other ingredients with pecans and mix well.

2. Lay nuts flat onto a non-stick dehydrator sheet.

3.Dehydrate at 108 degrees for 18 to 24 hours.

4.Remove from sheet and place onto dehydrator screen.

5.Dehydrate for another 18 to 24 hours until dry, crunchy, and a candy shell forms on nuts.

If you don't have a dehydrator, you may also bake in the oven.  Set the oven at the lowest temperature possible.  Lay pecans flat on a  cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper.

Cook for 3-10 minutes and flip pecans for another 3-10 minutes.

The time varies in the oven because everyone's oven/toaster oven is different and has different low temp settings.  Watch them closely to prevent burning.  If you think they are done or they look good, your good to go!

Happy Holiday Snackin'!
